NPCIL Model Paper for the Recruitment of Plant Operators/Technician

Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited recruits ambitious candidates for several posts. Among them plant operators or Technicians are recruited to handle various areas/systems of a nuclear plant like that of Turbine, Steam Generator, Boiler, DM Water Plant and so on. They will be guided by supervisors and officers.

Selection Procedure
 Usually it will be a two round recruitment consisting of a written exam and an interview and in few cases it may be just an interview depending on the number of posts.
Format of Exam (For Plant Operators and Chemical Plant Operators)
  The paper consists of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as major component and basic general knowledge. The first three are given weightage and one should be strong in these subjects.
What to Study?
  Here let me give you the basic outline or the most important areas which one should not forget to prepare.
Physics
Nuclear Physics, Atomic Physics :- Control Rods, Reactors, Coolants, Moderators, Basic definitions and units etc.,Radioactivity. This is one of the important unit.
Heat :- Forms of heat energy (Conduction, Convection and Radiation), units and basic definitions.
Mechanics : Laws and its implications.
Celsius to Fahrenheit conversion and vice versa. Kelvin scale.
Cover other parts too, however the above topics are most expected.
Chemistry
 Basic chemistry up to 12th standard. Physical chemistry should be care. pH, Conductivity, Hardness, TDS, Acids, Bases, Neutral, Atomic structure, definitions and examples, electronic configuration, Octet structure, Theories like VB, VSEPR etc.,
Mathematics
 Mensuration, Geometry, Trigonometry, Algebra are given maximum importance. Differentiation and Integration are usually not given much importance, however it is better to have some glance. But usually questions will be from the the first four.
General Knowledge
 Questions on GK will not be too tough. Have some knowledge on the reactors in India and its mission.

Note: Usually question papers are not allowed to take back and the above format is designed on inquiring with those who attended the exams previously and are posted presently. Utmost care is taken to provide proper information, however we are not responsible for any change if occurs in the forth coming examinations.
